Mastermind of the Johar Town bombing, is an Indian citizen who is linked to RAW: Moeed Yusuf.

Moeed Yusuf, the Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser, updated the country on Sunday on intelligence obtained following the bombing in Lahore’s Johar Town, claiming the key mastermind behind the attack is an Indian national with clear ties to RAW.

Yusuf spoke at a news conference in Islamabad, beginning in Urdu and ending in English, to guarantee that the world community understood the results.

“I want to make sure that our message [about] the event on June 23rd in Lahore is heard loud and clear.” We have clear proof and intelligence, including money and telephone records, indicating these terrorists are being directly sponsored by India.

“We have identified the main mastermind and the handlers of this terrorist attack through forensic analysis and electronic equipment recovered from these terrorists, and we have absolutely no doubt or reservation in informing you that the main mastermind belongs to RAW, the Indian intelligence agency, is an Indian national, and is based in India,” he said.

Yusuf said he’d want to remind everyone that “Indian exploitation of third-country territory and people, which embarrasses other nations, is not new.”

“We have been continually reminding the world of Indian activities, including a thorough dossier that was released last November with minute specifics about Indian funds, activity, and assistance,” the national security advisor stated.

He referred to a recent report by EU DisinfoLab, a well-known international organisation, that details how “hundreds and thousands of fake outlets were being used to malign Pakistan, spread misinformation about Pakistan, and hide what is actually a clear terrorist sponsorship by a state against another state in our region.”

“Thousands of attempts of cyber assaults on our vital investigative infrastructure straight after this attack on the 23rd in Lahore,” Yusuf added, adding that this is “extremely rare.”

“The volume and complexity of these attacks, as well as the state support and state connection in this case, leaves no question.”

He stated Pakistan’s cybersecurity was strong enough to thwart the assaults, but he didn’t say why they happened before offering an explanation.

“They were carried out because our adversaries sought to gain time in order to divert attention away from the apprehending and capturing of these terrorists that we were able to accomplish,” the national security advisor explained.

Yusuf also brought up the “drama” of unidentified drones flying over Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir.

“What was the rationale, and again with confidence we can put it out, that was a deflection strategy attempting to distract attention away from the truth, and they knew at the time we had not only caught perpetrators, but we knew precisely what had been done behind the scenes and who was behind it,” he said.

According to the advisor, the primary executor, Eid Gul, is of Afghan descent and currently resides in Pakistan.

He stated that Pakistan has consistently expressed its concern to the international community that “millions of law-abiding Afghan refugees are given a bad name, and Pakistan is blamed when these actors go and hide in these refugee settlements, and then Pakistan is questioned on why one or two or five miscreants, terrorists could not be apprehended.”

According to Yusuf, Pakistan reminds the international community “of their responsibility to create a method for the dignified return of Afghan refugees, and then questions may be answered.”

“Until then,” he added, “this is a very excellent example of the complications that may arise when something like this happens.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to Yusuf, has directed his staff to “take all legal and political measures at their disposal to get to the persons outside Pakistan who are part of this worldwide terrorist network.”

“As a result, we will share all evidence with the world community, revealing the sinister and true face of a state in our neighbourhood that has long supported terrorism against our innocent citizens.”

The adviser urged the international community to take action, saying it is “high time” for it to “stop turning a blind eye and play a constructive and legally binding role for the protection of innocent Pakistanis if they are truly concerned about regional peace and stability.”

Briefing by IGP Punjab on the nature of the attack

Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani presented an overview of the events leading up to the bomb before Yusuf’s briefing.

The incident happened at 11:09 a.m. on June 23 in Block E of Johar Town, according to Ghani, and a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) was utilised. Three people were murdered and 22 others were injured as a consequence of the explosion, including two police officers.

Twelve automobiles and seven residences were also damaged by the blast.

According to him, the police’s Counter Terrorism Department was dispatched to the scene right once, cordoning off the area and establishing an operating base.

“Punjab’s CTD has been working on counter-terrorism for a long time and has reached the point of maturity where it can connect the dots swiftly and effectively. As a consequence, they were able to uncover not just the terrorists’ whole plot [within 16 hours of the event], but also the names of all those involved.”
He then went on to display a diagram of the terrorist network engaged in the assault.

The red boxes, according to IG Ghani, represent those who sponsored, planned, and thought up the entire assault outside of Pakistan.

Those in yellow, he explained, were the ones who carried out the plan in Pakistan.
