LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said on Wednesday that a 32 percent job quota will be reserved for South Punjab districts in provincial government jobs.
While speaking to the media in Bhakkar, the chief minister stated that a proposal was being considered to include Mianwali in South Punjab, and that the job quota in government employment would then be boosted to 35 percent.
He declared himself the genuine representative of such regions in Lahore, saying, “I will alter the fate of the people of the poor parts of the province.”
He further stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be inaugurating a South Punjab secretariat in Bahawalpur in the near future.
Usman Buzdar stated that they had made a historic 66 percent increase in the budget for uplift projects for the first time, and that no one could question the provincial budget’s openness.
We are building a 122-kilometer road connecting Punjab and Balochistan, and in Dera Ghazi Khan, we have started 78 new local government projects,” he stated.
It is important to note that both the provincial and federal administrations have prioritised the development of the South Punjab and Prime Minister Imran Khan stated on April 26 that he will propose a constitutional modification to create the province of South Punjab.
Imran Khan stated during an inaugural ceremony for the South Punjab secretariat that the southern territories will be made into a province, and that they would work to get a constitutional change passed in Parliament.
He stated that it was determined that the southern districts would receive their job allotment based on their population.
“The secretariat’s construction will also benefit people since they will no longer have to travel to Lahore to resolve their issues,” Imran Khan remarked after inaugurating the Multan Secretariat.
