LAHORE, Pakistan — On Tuesday, a court in Lahore granted bail to Nazir Chohan, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Punjab Provincial Assembly.
The court ordered that he be released after submitting Rs100,000 in bail bonds.
Earlier in the day, police detained Nazir Chohan in connection with a complaint brought against him by Shahzad Akbar, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Accountability.
Nazir Chohan, a member of the Jahangir Tareen gang, was charged under Sections 506, 258, 189, and 153 at Lahore’s Race Course Police Station.
The complainant claimed that the accused made false accusations against him on television.
