Pakistan cannot take in any more Afghan refugees, according to Moeed Yusuf.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WASHINGTON, D.C Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, has stated that the country cannot take on any more Afghan refugees.

Moeed Yusuf, speaking at a press conference in Washington, DC, suggested that safe zones for refugees should be developed within Afghanistan.

In response to a query, Moeed stated that Pakistan and the US must work together to address Afghanistan’s security concerns.

“Unfortunately, Afghan turf has been utilised in the past for operations against Pakistan,” he added, adding that the area is currently being exploited in Pakistan for subversive activities.

Over 3 million Afghan refugees are housed in Pakistan.
On July 10, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that Pakistan has hosted more than three million Afghan migrants over the years and that the country could not handle the weight of new refugees.

“If the scenario occurs where more people require shelter, we would first prepare a strategy,” the foreign minister told the reporters in Multan.

Miscreants may seek to enter Pakistan under the pretence of being refugees, according to Pakistan’s foreign minister.

He had stated, “Our first attempt to deal with the problem would be to try to keep Afghan refugees in Afghanistan.”

He went on to say that “talks are underway with all parties for regional peace” as he spoke about peace in the area as a whole.
