LAHORE – Prime Minister Imran Khan came in Lahore today (Monday) to launch the world’s largest urban forest, the Miyawaki, as part of the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project’s monsoon campaign.
During his visit, the premier will have a meeting with members of the provincial cabinet to examine the concerns surrounding the Jahangir Tareen group.
The Prime Minister will also meet with Punjab’s Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar.
Miyawaki urban forest
Because of the unique Miyawaki process, the Miyawaki forest has been established across 100 kanals with a total of 165000 plants that will grow ten times faster than a typical forest.
To create fast-growing urban forests, it employs specific ground preparation as well as indigenous species with varied growth rates.
Another 53 Miyawaki trees are being planted in various sections of Lahore in order to generate carbon sinks and improve pollution abatement in the city.
All of the projects have been geo-tagged so that their growth and progress may be tracked.
The present Monsoon plantation campaign, which is the largest of its kind in Pakistan, is planting over 500 million trees across the country.
