KABUL: On Saturday, the remobilisation of the military forces in Afghanistan was a “top priority,” as militants in the Taliban have been inching closer to the capital, having been driving up the defensive forces of the nation over the last week.
The President did not suggest that he would quit or take charge of the current situation, but he claimed “consultations” took place in order to assist stop the conflict.
“Our security and defence forces are being remobilised as our top priority, and substantial action is being made in this respect,” he said in a TV speech.
However, Ghani gave few details as to what his administration is plans to do, as the rule of Afghanistan in recent days has only deteriorated.
The declaration was made as US Marines returned to monitor evacuations from Afghanistan, and foreign embassies struggled for security deterioration to take out their staffs.
Kabul has become the apparent last stand for government troops which have given little or no other fight, with the second and third larger towns of the nation falling under Taliban control.
