Shahid Afridi has stated that the upcoming PSL season may be his last, and that he would love to play for the Quetta Gladiators.

Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani cricket captain, stated on Monday that the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) may be his last and that he would love to play for the Quetta Gladiators.

Nadeem Omar, the owner of the Quetta Gladiators, claimed last week that Afridi informed him that he will join his PSL team for the seventh season, which would take place in 2022.

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is the current captain, according to Omar, but if he willingly steps down, “we may nominate Afridi in his stead.”

“It is really difficult for players to train within the biosecure bubble,” Afridi said to the media in Karachi, explaining why he has been playing little cricket.
“It’s because of my fans that I’m continuing playing.”

When asked about the country’s cricketing issues, he remarked that just changing people isn’t enough to reform a system, referring to Ramiz Raja’s nomination to the Board of Governors.

Raja has been named to the Board of Governors by Prime Minister Imran Khan, and he is expected to become the future chairman of the PCB.

“Change begins at the grass roots,” he explained.

Afridi expressed his thoughts on the future of cricket in Afghanistan, saying that the “Taliban embrace cricket” as the situation in the neighbouring war-torn country changes.

Unlike in the past, the former captain believes that the situation in Afghanistan under Taliban administration is “good” this time.

Afridi commented on the Kashmir Premier League, saying that there was a period when all the skill came from Karachi, but now the KPL is bringing all the potential to the fore.

“Because cricket has a scarcity of facilities, businesspeople should work together to promote cricket.”
