PIA plane grounded after nose wheel damaged at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing aircraft has been grounded at Islamabad International Airport after the nose wheel was damaged during a tarmac pushback.

The aircraft’s nose wheel was damaged, according to airline sources, after a connecting rod between the plane and the tug master abruptly snapped during pushback at the airport. The passenger plane was forced to land as a result of the accident.

According to the reports, the mishap caused the aircraft from Islamabad to Quetta to be delayed.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the country’s flag airline confirmed the incident, adding that more information on the mishap was being sought.

There were no injuries recorded.

A PIA jet has been forced to land at Karachi International Airport.

On March 17, a PIA flight was forced to return to the ground after colliding with a bird shortly after takeoff.

The bird crashed with the right engine of the national carrier flight PK368, according to a PIA official, but the jet landed safely at Karachi airport.

According to a PIA representative, the bird collided with the plane shortly after takeoff. He stated that there were 162 people on board.
