KABUL – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmed Khan, said on Thursday that the first shipment of humanitarian supplies, consisting of food and medicines, has arrived in Afghanistan.

After the previous government collapsed and the Taliban took control, the landlocked country was cut off from the rest of the world for over a month.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said on Wednesday that on Thursday, a C-130 aircraft will provide humanitarian aid in the form of food and medication to Afghanistan.

Additional supplies would be supplied through land channels, according to the Foreign Office.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmed Khan, said today that the first shipment has arrived in Kabul.

Since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, he claimed, there has been a lack of food and medicines. Pakistani assistance was sent to alleviate the deficit.

Khan stated in a tweet that the first shipment included medications, food, cooking oil, beds, and other goods. In addition, he stated that Pakistan will continue to give humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Khan addressed the world community, saying that he is certain that the international community will play its part in providing humanitarian relief.

Khan further claimed that he is in contact with the World Health Organization for humanitarian aid, and that additional relief supplies would be transported to Afghanistan via land routes via the Torkham and Chaman Borders.

In addition to Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have given aid to Afghanistan.
