The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the clear winner in the cantonment board elections held across Pakistan on Sunday.
According to early, unconfirmed results, the PTI received 63 seats, closely followed by the PML-N, which received 59.
52 seats were won by independent candidates.
The PPP received 17, the Jamaat-e-Islami received seven, and the Awami National Party received two votes.
MQM received ten associated party votes, while the Balochistan Awami Party received two.
Results by province
The PTI gained the most seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (18), 28 in Punjab, 14 in Sindh, and three in Balochistan.
The PML-N gained 51 seats in Punjab, but just five in KP, three in Sindh, and none in Balochistan.
Surprisingly, the PPP was unable to defeat the PTI in Sindh, instead tied with them for 14 seats. The remaining three seats were gained in KP, leaving neither Punjab nor Balochistan unrepresented.
In Punjab, independent candidates fared well, capturing 32 seats. They won nine seats in KP, seven in Sindh, and four in Balochistan.
MQM won all ten Sindh seats, while JI won five in Sindh and two in Punjab.
The ANP won two seats in KP, while the BAP won one.
