(Web Desk) – The Team England Player Partnership (TEPP) has denied that their players were behind the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) dropping out of the impending Pakistan trip, claiming that they were not even approached.
According to a TEPP official, the ECB left the squad in the dark following New Zealand’s decision to depart Pakistan last Friday following a security alert minutes before their first match in Rawalpindi.
It was previously believed that the TEPP intervened to prevent the tour from going forward, but a spokeswoman stated, ‘At no time has the ECB ever asked Team England Player Partnership or the teams, men and women, whether the tour should go ahead or if players were prepared to travel Pakistan.’
‘At no point has the Team England Player Partnership notified the ECB that the players would not be touring,’ the spokesperson continued.
UK Prime Minister Johnson is enraged by the ECB’s decision to cancel the Pakistan visit.
Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, has voiced his displeasure with the ECB’s decision to cancel the men’s and women’s cricket teams’ visit of Pakistan next month.
According to a storey in the British daily ‘Times,’ PM Johnson is “mad” over the ECB’s decision to cancel the men’s and women’s white-ball tours to Pakistan next month.
According to the article, “the prime minister and top Foreign and Commonwealth Office officials think that the decision has harmed ties between the UK and Pakistani governments.”
