Fawad Chaudhry supports giving TTP terrorists a “chance at a normal life” provided they vow allegiance to Pakistan.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on Friday backed a “normal existence” for militants linked to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who desire to pledge allegiance to the state.

The announcement by the federal minister comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan announced earlier in the day that the government is in discussions with “certain” TTP elements about disarming.

“Peace loving individuals who desire to obey the Constitution should be given an opportunity to come back to a normal life,” Chaudhry said in a video message.

The information minister stated that the government wants to move forward with the prime minister’s requirements, which include the TTP’s disarming.

According to Chaudhry, the state’s policies are based on the current scenario. “Those who were unable to fulfil their oath of loyalty to Pakistan wish to return to do so.”

More than 3,000 “disgruntled” individuals in Balochistan have returned to regular life after falling victim to India’s machinations, according to the information minister.

The information minister stated that the government had overcome adversity, had sacrificed thousands of lives, and was able to “defeat terrorist organisations like Al Qaeda” as a consequence.

PM Imran Khan, speaking to TRT World’s Ali Mustafa in Islamabad earlier in the day, said: “Some Pakistani Taliban factions, I believe, want to negotiate to our administration. For the sake of peace and reconciliation, you know.”

When asked if Pakistan is in discussions with the TTP, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif emphasised that conversations are underway “with certain of them.”

In the sense that the discussions are taking place in Afghanistan, he stated the Afghan Taliban are “helping.”

If the disarmament discussions succeed, the government would “forgive” them, according to the prime minister, and they will “become regular citizens.”

Following the premier’s remarks, the banned organisation issued a statement announcing the end of hostilities in South Waziristan between TTP terrorists and the army.

According to the TTP statement, “our leaders have asked all combatants to observe a truce from now to October 20.”

The TTP stated that its leaders are having “secret discussions,” but did not elaborate more.
