Australia won their first T20 World Cup by defeating New Zealand.

DUBAI: Mitchell Marsh and David Warner combined well to help Australia beat New Zealand by eight wickets to win the ICC T20 World Cup for the first time on Sunday at Dubai International Stadium.

Australia won the cup when Warner and Marsh made the run-chase too simple for them. The two hitters kept their cool and scored 92 runs, setting the tone for Australia’s 173-run chase.

Warner scored 53 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, while Marsh was unbeaten on 77 runs, with six boundaries and four sixes.

Marsh and Maxwell (28*) later added 66 runs to help Australia cross the finish line.
