DHAKA, Bangladesh — The International Cricket Council (ICC) has penalised Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali for violating Level 1 of the Code of Conduct during the first T20I against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) stated in a press release that Hasan was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which prohibits “using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
The incident occurred in Bangladesh’s 17th over, when Hasan handed an unacceptable sendoff to batsman Nurul Hasan after catching him behind the wicket.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has been penalised 20% of its match costs for sustaining a slow over-rate throughout the match, despite being one over short of the objective once time allowances were taken into account.
In addition, one demerit point has been added to Hasan’s disciplinary record, as this was his first offence in a 24-month period.
Hasan and Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah accepted the punishments imposed by Neeyamur Rashid of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees and confirmed by the ICC Cricket Operations department in accordance with the COVID-19 interim playing regulations. Council stated that formal hearings were unnecessary.
