NA-133 by poll: ECP demands forensic examination of video of alleged vote buying and selling.

LAHORE – A report on suspected footage of vote buying and selling in the NA-133 elections will be filed tomorrow. Strict action would be taken if the reports of the relevant departments are proven to be genuine, according to an Election Commission spokeswoman.

If rigging is proven, the subject will be reported to the Election Commission Islamabad; also, the NA-133 by-election may be postponed, and the candidate may be disqualified if rigging is proven.

In addition, ECP wrote letters to Chairman PEMRA, Chairman NADRA, Inspector General (IG) of Police, and Commissioner Lahore requesting video forensics and person identification.

ECP further directs the returning officer to produce a documented forensic report, and action must be done on the report by November 30.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Election Commission released the timetable for the empty seat following the resignation of Senator Muhammad Ayub. The election for the empty seat will take place on December 20, 2021.

According to the Election Commission, following Senator Muhammad Ayub’s resignation, an election for the empty seat will be held on December 20 this year, with voting taking place in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly building. The returning officer is ordered to publish a public notice on the subject today.

Nomination papers can be filed from November 30 to December 2, according to an ECP official.

The list of candidates who have submitted papers will be revealed on December 3, nomination papers will be scrutinised by December 6, and appeals will be accepted until December 8.

The panel will then rule on the appeals by December 10th.
