The perpetrators of the lynching of a Sri Lankan national will not be spared, says Prime Minister Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the perpetrators of the lynching of Sri Lankan national Priyantha Kumara will not go unpunished.

He mentioned this while speaking at the Prime Minister’s Office during a condolence reference for Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Diyawadana Kumara. The prime minister stated that from now on, anybody seen manipulating religion and resorting to violence in the name of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will not be spared by the government.

Imran Khan offered his sympathies to Priyanth Kumara’s family as well as the Sri Lankan government.

“God Almighty sent Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a blessing for the entire world,” the PM stated, adding that the Holy Prophet launched an ideological revolution and unified mankind, and that the Last Prophet’s teaching was founded on humanity and justice.

He expressed regret over the lynching of a Sri Lankan national in Sialkot, saying the event had embarrassed the entire country and tarnished its image. He remarked that, in the same way that the horrible occurrence at Army Public School unified the entire nation against terrorism, we have determined that situations like those in Sialkot would not be tolerated in the future.

He said the Sialkot business community has raised $100,000 for Priyantha Diyawadana’s bereaved family, adding that the bereaved family will continue to receive their monthly salary.

PM Imran Khan presented Malik Adnan with a letter of thanks for risking his life to save the Sri Lankan national’s life.

He praised Malik Adnan’s bravery and announced that he will be awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat.

Fawad Chaudhry, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Hamada Zahir, Umar Ayub, Shirin Mazari, and Ali Muhammad Khan, Federal Ministers for Information and Broadcasting, Special Assistants Allama Tahir-ul-Ashrafi and Usman Dar, Malik Adnan, who tried to save Sri Lankan citizens from the mob, and the Sri Lankan High Commissioner all attended the function.
