KARACHI, Pakistan – Haleem Adil Sheikh, the Opposition Leader in the Sindh Parliament, has issued a letter to Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister on the topic of the Sindh government’s continued unconstitutional actions and the Chief Minister’s speech in the assembly.
According to Haleem Adil Sheikh’s letter, the PPP administration in Sindh is breaking Pakistan’s constitution. Murad Ali Shah made a highly careless and offensive speech on the floor of the Sindh Assembly.
He went on to say that the Sindh government is abusing its majority in the parliament to do unlawful actions. Three measures pertaining to out-turn promotion have already been approved without consultation.
Furthermore, the new changes to the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 are in violation of Article 140A of the Constitution. Sindh’s citizens, including all opposition parties in the Sindh Assembly, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the government.
The Sindh government reintroduced the bill on the floor of the house, and it was re-passed without debate or consultation with the Standing Committee.
Haleem Adil Sheikh went on to say that the Sindh government’s authoritarian attitude is harmful to the country’s ongoing democratic system, and that the Chief Minister of Sindh used undemocratic language during his address in the Sindh Assembly.
Haleem Adil Sheikh, speaking to the opposition, remarked that you (the opposition) are in the minority, and that the PPP has become a security concern to Pakistan.
The federal government, according to Haleem Adil Sheikh, should take quick notice of the dangerous scenario.
