PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A female presiding officer and her husband were detained in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on suspicion of manipulating the local body elections.
Opposition parties blame that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate’s marks were being stamped in Gore Ghatri tehsil’s Neighborhood Councils 33 and 34.
Sharifullah, the Provincial Election Commissioner, also arrived.
Sharifullah told the reporters that the presiding officer and her husband had been transferred to the police station and that all documents will be given over to the new personnel.
Assistant Commissioner Ehtesham Khan stated that all polling station employees will be detained and sent to Karthana. A lawsuit would be filed against all of the employees.
The scene at the polling place got hostile, prompting the deployment of a large presence of police.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, on the other hand, has given directives to officers about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections.
The Chief Election Commissioner has urged the Provincial Election Commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be thorough in conducting local body elections.
Sikandar Sultan Raja instructed that all resources be used during the elections to ensure that they were transparent and fair.
