ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan released the public version of the country’s first-ever National Security Policy 2022-2026 on Friday, saying the country is now on the right track.
According to Radio Pakistan, “the original form of the policy will stay confidential, but a public version of the paper will be disseminated.”
Speaking at the program’s introduction event, the premier stated that national security was defined “properly” in the new policy, since Pakistan had a one-dimensional mindset: “We just need military security.”
The strategy was authorised by the federal cabinet on December 28, 2021, a day after it was approved by the National Security Committee (NSC).
The prime minister stated that a one-dimensional worldview remained in Pakistan because we had “insecurities” as a result of conflicts with India in 1948 and 1965.
He also praised the military forces, saying that despite the country’s ongoing terror threat, the manner Pakistan’s security forces resisted terrorism was admirable.
PM Imran Khan stated that the most important security of a state is its people. “When the people become stakeholders in the country, it becomes the greatest national security.”
