LAHORE, Pakistan — Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Education Minister, held a meeting of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers via video connection on Monday, when he evaluated the situation following a spike in coronavirus infections.

The delegates resolved not to close educational establishments during the meeting.

Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas said in a statement that children have been instructed they must wear masks and be inoculated against the coronavirus in order to attend the institutions. He also stated that classes for children under the age of 12 will be permitted with a 50% attendance rate.

Also confirmed are 502,500 coronavirus cases in Sindh, 453,392 in Punjab, 182,311 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 111,376 in Islamabad, and 34,758 in Azad Kashmir. Balochistan has 33,705 people while Gilgit-Baltistan has 10,445.
Pakistan has tested for coronavirus 24,186,508 times thus far, including 49,809 in the previous 24 hours. In the country, 1,263,791 individuals have recovered, while 781 remain in serious condition.

The COVID-19 positivity ratio was found to be 8.71%.

So far, 101,457,925 individuals have gotten their first dose of coronavirus vaccination, with 332,969 of those receiving their first dose in the previous 24 hours. In the previous 24 hours, 462,614 persons received their second shot, bringing the total number of citizens properly vaccinated to 76,649,649 people.

The overall number of dosages delivered has risen to 166,837,089, with 753,282 being administered in the previous 24 hours.
