After a recent upgrade to the messaging software owned by Meta, WhatsApp chats may now be shared between Android and iOS devices.
The source code for WhatsApp 22.2.74 beta for iOS disclosed this information.
However, the migration procedure would be complicated, as it would need the installation of the app on both devices, as well as the use of a cable or a private Wi-Fi connection.
Other messaging applications, on the other hand, employ Google Drive, iCloud, or their own cloud service to store and sync user data.
WhatsApp recently updated its Android and desktop apps with new features.
In a future update, the Android app will gain new sketching and pencil tools, while WhatsApp Desktop will get new chat bubble colours. In addition, the desktop app will acquire a new dark blue colour that will only be seen when the dark theme mode is enabled.
The instant messaging app is also experimenting with a new emoji message reactions information tab as well as new notification settings for message reactions.
WhatsApp has a tracker feature. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is adding new drawing tools to its Android app. The instant messaging service is preparing new pencils for drawing, but it will only receive two, one thinner and one thicker than the current pencil.
The software is also working on a blur picture tool, which might be offered at a later date.
The new features are available in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.3.5, but they are turned off by default. These features are still in development and may be made available to WhatsApp beta users in the near future.
