On Tuesday, Attorney General Khalid Javed Khan met with Prime Minister Imran Khan and informed him on the legal implications of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Amendment Ordinance.

According to Khalid Javed, the PECA Amendment Ordinance would not be adopted in its current form. He stated that the administration has no intention of restricting free expression.

He stated that the PECA ordinance would not be implemented unless legal safeguards were established under Article 19.

The Attorney General further stated that he will make a policy statement about the PECA Amendment Ordinance before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday.
