On the night between Friday and Saturday, Muslims around the country commemorated Shab-e-Barat, a night of devotion, ardour, and heavenly favours.
Shab-e-Barat, also known as the Night of Blessings, is honoured by Muslims on the night of the 14th and 15th of Shaa’ban. It is thought to be a night of forgiveness, as well as a time when the fortunes of the future year are decided.
After Isha, faithful gathered at mosques’ homes to perform special prayers that lasted till Fajr. Prayers were made specifically for the elimination of the coronavirus and the welfare of the homeland.
In their speeches, ulemas and religious intellectuals emphasised Islam’s teachings, while various gatherings and Mahafil-e-Naat were held to commemorate the holy night.
