The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expects to earn 650 million dollars from its proposed quadrangular tournament, which would feature India, Australia, and England as the other three teams.
According to media sources, the plan, which would see Pakistan, India, England, and Australia compete in an annual single-league T20 event, will be formally proposed at the ICC Board meeting next week in Dubai.
The PCB has set a date for the tournament in September-October, which officials believe is an excellent time because it is the start of the season in Australia, India, and Pakistan, as well as at the conclusion of the English season.
The current proposal is for a single-league system with six league games, followed by one-off or best-of-three finals played over two weekends. The tournament’s hosting rights are expected to be rotated, and the ICC will have complete authority over the event.
According to media sources, the paper estimates that such a tournament might generate USD 650 million in broadcast and commercial rights, with the proceeds split among the four teams and other ICC members. It is unclear how the income will be divided, however it is expected that a considerable chunk would go to non-participating Full Members and Associate members.
