The joint opposition has filed a motion of no confidence against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.

The Lower House of Parliament will vote today on a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

When a coalition partner announced that seven of its lawmakers would vote with the opposition, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) effectively lost its majority in the 342-member assembly.

More than a dozen PTI lawmakers have also said they will vote no. The opposition needs 172 votes to defeat the motion.

PM Khan has accused the opposition of collaborating with “foreign powers” to depose him because he refuses to support the West in global issues involving Russia and China.
