The Punjab Assembly has been barbed wired and Section 144 has been imposed within a 500-meter radius of the Provincial Assembly before voting for the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab.
Rangers have also been called in Lahore, according to the Provincial Assembly’s spokesperson, because the assembly session is set for April 16.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, while the combined Opposition resolved to file a similar petition against Speaker Pervaiz Elahi.
The political situation changed when Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari chose to call a session today rather than April 16 – a decision that enraged the PTI and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), who refused to accept it.
On Elahi’s orders, a large police detachment was stationed outside the assembly secretariat on Wednesday.
