Marriyum Aurangzeb, Federal Minister of Information, agreed to enact legislation to combat fake news while meeting with a delegation from the Media Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Saturday.
The meeting decided that legislation would be enacted in accordance with PEMRA law, and that a provision would be included in the PEMRA law to combat fake news.
While lashing out at the previous government, she claimed that the former government had gone to great lengths to ban the media, in addition to the economic disaster.
