President Alvi writes to the CJP and the Prime Minister, requesting the formation of a judicial panel to investigate a ‘foreign plot’

President Dr Arif Alvi forwarded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s letter about a foreign conspiracy to current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial on Tuesday, saying that an authorised judicial commission should be established to investigate a foreign conspiracy.

President Alvi responded to Imran Khan’s letter, emphasising the need of investigating the foreign plot.

In his response letter, the President stated that a full investigation into the alleged plot to destabilise the government is required, and that he has read a copy of the cypher sent by Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, which includes statements by Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu, who specifically mentioned a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to Alvi, the cypher also references forgiveness if the movement succeeds and dire penalties if it fails.
