D-Wave Systems Inc, a Vancouver-based quantum computing company, announced on Thursday that it has delivered its latest quantum computer to the University of Southern California.

According to Murray Thom, D-Wave’s president of product management, the Advantage system, D-Wave’s powerful machine, was released in September 2020 and has been operating in Canada and Germany.

Researchers and businesses in the United States have been able to access the machine over the internet, but the deployment will bring a machine to the country, he added, as Washington increases its support for quantum technology.

“Everyone is paying close attention to where things are and who is working on what,” Murray added.
