QUETTA – A local court on Sunday awarded PTI leader Azam Swati a five-day physical remand in the contentious tweets case.
Swati was brought before court magistrate Kachlak for a 10-day detention for questioning.

The magistrate, however, granted a five-day physical remand.

On December 2, Quetta police detained PTI leader Azam Swati in a separate Balochistan case over his contentious statement during the party’s Rawalpindi showdown.

The police have brought the outspoken PTI politician to Balochistan for questioning in connection with the matter.

The development comes a day after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was granted a 14-day judicial remand in the infamous tweets case by a district and sessions court.

The FIA stated in its appeal that it had concluded the investigation and that no additional inquiry was required.

The FIA arrested the PTI chairman from his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, an Islamabad suburb, after his party conducted a power show in the neighbouring city of Rawalpindi.

This was the 74-year-old politician’s second detention in more than a month, after he was granted post-arrest release in a contentious Twitter case by a court in the capital city last month.

The FIA has filed a first information report (FIR) on the state’s complaint, according to Islamabad Cyber Crime Reporting Centre (CCRC) Technical Assistant Aneesur Rehman.
