Suleman Shehbaz, the Prime Minister’s son, is granted 14-day protective bail by the IHC.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman protective bail for 14 days on Tuesday and ordered him to appear before the court hearing the money laundering case against him.

During the hearing, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq inquired of Suleman’s counsel about the court in which his client is required to appear.

Suleman’s lawyer, Amjad Pervez, informed the IHC CJ that his client must appear before a special judge central in Lahore.

After discovering this, Justice Farooq granted PM’s son protective bail and ordered him to appear in court within 14 days.

Suleman claimed in his appeal to the IHC that he left Pakistan in 2018 and the lawsuit was filed against him in 2020. He further stated that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had not sent him a call-up notice, and that the court had labelled him a proclaimed criminal without taking any action.

Suleman had previously been ordered by the IHC to surrender by December 13 and banned police from detaining him until then.

The injunction was given by the court after his client convinced the judges that Suleman would return to the country.

Suleman returned to Pakistan on Sunday, following the court’s ruling, after spending nearly four years in self-exile in the United Kingdom.
