‘Fakhar and Haris have been added to the list of probables for the NZ ODIs,’ says Afridi.

LAHORE: Left-handed hitters Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail have been added to the list of probables for the home ODI series against New Zealand, according to Shahid Afridi, chairman of the Men’s Interim National Selection Committee.

Afridi took to Twitter to announce the addition of the two veteran bats on the list of probables for the ODI series against New Zealand.

“Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail have been added to the New Zealand probables list after passing their fitness tests today,” Afridi said.

“They’re also performing well in the Pak Cup,” he continued.

Earlier on Wednesday, the interim selection committee for the national men’s team, helmed by former captain Afridi, identified 21 probables for the home ODI series against New Zealand, which is set to take place in Karachi from January 9 to 13.

Following the announcement of the probables, the PCB announced the addition of right-arm young pacer Mohammad Hasnain to the list, bringing the total to 22.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the former captain and wicketkeeper batsman who returned to Test cricket after a three-year absence, has not been selected among the players.

The interim selection committee for men’s cricket additionally included six uncapped players to the list of shortlisted players: Abrar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, Aamer Jamal, Kamran Ghulam, Qasim Akram, and Tayyab Tahir.

The final selection for the historic home ODI series will be revealed after the completion of the present Pakistan Cup and during the second Test in Karachi, according to a press statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“The selectors will unveil the 16-man team after the end of the Pakistan Cup and during the second Test, which will also be played here from January 2-6,” the PCB said in a statement.

It is worth noting that Pakistan will face New Zealand in three ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League matches, which will be held at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on January 9, 11, and 13.
