LAHORE – Ijaz ul Haq, chairman of Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z), called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday, amid demands for a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi.

Former President Zia ul Haq’s son, speaking to the reporters outside Mr Imran’s mansion in Zaman Park, said he had seen Mr Imran after a long period. “The nation’s economy is on the edge of default, and only new elections can save the country,” he continued. The current dilapidation, he said, was brought about by the current administration.

He said that he could help with mediation [between the government and the opposition]. “I asked the authorities what would happen if the elections were conducted a few months early,” he said.
