The market supply of flour will be suspended beginning Tuesday: The Punjab Food Department has suspended the wheat quotas for 100 flour mills: The food secretary has said that he would not be blackmailed by anybody.
The Punjab Flour Mills Association has declared a strike beginning Monday (February 13), suspending market supply beginning February 14, according to the 24NewsHD TV station on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by Punjab Flour Mills Association Chairman Iftikhar Ahmad Mattu, millers would not buy wheat beginning February 13 and will cease flour delivery in markets beginning February 14.

He requested that the Punjab Food Department provide proof against mills selling wheat, stating that his organisation was opposed to such mills selling wheat.

The leader of the group also encouraged the government to eliminate trucks stops and install flour sales points in stores. Flour mill staff will monitor the selling of flour at these stores.

The group criticised the MPO’s actions against flour mills and urged the department to check mills in accordance with established operating standards (SOPs).

According to PFMA Punjab chairman Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmad Mattu, the provincial food secretary had unethical behaviour and policies.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Food Department has stopped wheat quotas for 100 flour mills, indicating a growing schism between the flour mills organisation and the Punjab food secretary.

Muhammad Zaman Wattoo, Secretary Food Punjab, said that the province administration would not be bullied by anybody.

He said that data on persons who were pushing others to strike and cause a flour scarcity in the market was being gathered.

The Punjab Food Secretary said that no action had been taken against the millers and that the majority of mills had upped their wheat quotas.
