SLAMABAD – The Supreme Court (SC) decided on Wednesday whether to pursue the Supreme Judicial Council’s proceedings against retired or resigned justices.

In its short judgment, the Supreme Court declared that the Supreme Judicial Council will not suspend its actions owing to the judge’s departure; the Judicial Council has the jurisdiction to continue procedures against the resigned judge.

The Supreme Court issued a 4-1 split verdict, with Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi dissenting.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that the federal government’s petition was partially allowed.
