ABU DHABI : In response to recent remarks made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about the ongoing conflict, the United Arab Emirates has publicly declared the end of its counterterrorism operations in Yemen.

The UAE emphasized that maintaining regional security and stability was the goal of its military operation in Yemen, which was carried out as part of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy.

Since 2015, Emirati soldiers have taken part in coalition operations to uphold legitimacy in Yemen, fight terrorist groups, and help the friendly Yemeni people, according to the UAE Ministry of Defense. A small number of specialized soldiers remained for counterterrorism purposes even though the UAE discontinued its primary military deployment in 2019 after finishing assigned objectives.

The ministry emphasized that it has chosen to remove the remaining personnel in a coordinated way, guaranteeing their protection and upholding collaboration with foreign partners, in light of recent changes impacting operational safety and mission performance.

The UAE emphasized that this choice is a reflection of the nation’s continued commitment to peace and security and is part of a larger evaluation of the needs of the region.
