ISLAMABAD – Following fluctuations in global oil prices, the government increased the price of fuel by Rs4 per litre, starting October 1 (Friday).

The decision was taken based on the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s suggestion (OGRA). The increased price of fuel will be Rs127.20 per litre, compared to Rs123.20 per litre currently.

The cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs2 per litre, to Rs122.04 per litre.

Kerosene oil’s price was also raised by Rs7.02 per litre, to Rs99.31 per litre, up from Rs92.29 per litre.

Furthermore, light diesel oil would cost Rs8.82 extra per litre, bringing the total price to Rs99.51 per litre.
The regulatory board proposed a rise in the per litre price of petrol and diesel by Rs5.5 and Rs3.5, respectively, earlier today.

The OGRA had issued a report to the petroleum division, requesting that the pricing of petroleum products be raised.

From October 1, the price of petrol is expected to rise by Rs 5.25 per litre, while the price of diesel is expected to rise by Rs 3.5 per litre.

The government raised the price of fuel by Rs5 per litre on September 16, against the OGRA’s recommendation of only Rs1 per litre.
