PESHAWAR (Channel News Pakistan) – The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has banned unconnected political gatherings on the grounds of government and educational institutions.
This ruling was made in response to a petition alleging that arranging political meetings at government and educational institutions violates the Constitution while also disrupting academic and official activity.
Justice Sahibzada Asad Ullah of the Peshawar High Court issued a five-page written decision that clearly states that political rallies, processions, and other unrelated gatherings will not be permitted on the grounds of educational institutions, government institutions, or other administrative departments.
The verdict further holds that the duty for the use of these institutions rests with the relevant officials, who are required to prevent their political use by all means necessary.
The court emphasized in its conclusion that government institutions are designed for certain reasons, and unrelated gatherings jeopardize their integrity. As a result, it is vital to restrict such actions, and administrators must guarantee that no unconnected meetings take place on their grounds.
