ISLAMABAD: Four independent candidates who won seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).

The statement came after a meeting with Aleem Khan. The parliamentarians who have joined the party are Muhammad Dilpazir from GBA-15 Diamer, Aman Ali from GBA-21 Ghizer-3, Anwar Ali from GBA-23 Ghanche, and Asad Shafiq from GBA-24 Ghanche-3.

Speaking at the event, Muhammad Dilpazir stated that the four victorious independent candidates had formed a group and jointly agreed to join the IPP. He also stated that they were in communication with other independent members and candidates from the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

Dilpazir said attempts will continue to persuade additional parliamentarians to join the party, and he was certain that the IPP would emerge as the second-largest political force in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The development is likely to improve the party’s standing in the freshly elected house, as political factions continue talks on potential coalitions and government formation.
