KARACHI — A bomb near Karachi’s Gulbai Shershah Paracha Chowk killed 15 people, including the father of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA and #Fixit Founder Alamgir Khan.
According to police, the explosion occurred in a nullah in the neighbourhood, causing extensive damage to a private bank facility as well as neighbouring automobiles and motorbikes.
The injured are being sent to the Civil Hospital for treatment, according to the police. It’s also possible that other persons were buried beneath the rubble of the structure. Heavy gear has been dispatched to the scene in order to clear the rubble and rescue any trapped people.
The area has also been blocked off by police and Rangers, and an inquiry into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
On the other side, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was alerted about a blast in Karachi’s nullah.
The chief minister has ordered the Karachi commissioner to investigate the event and provide a report as soon as feasible. He also expressed regret for the deaths and directed that the affected people be accommodated in hospitals.
