PARIS: According to the Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti, about 2,000 people have been found guilty in France for the nationwide riots that began in late June when a teenager was fatally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop outside of Paris.

The worst urban violence in the nation since 2005 prompted the minister to call for a “rapid, firm, and systematic” reaction from magistrates, with several courts holding fast-track proceedings for suspects.
