LAHORE – Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday scheduled four breaks in private and public schools throughout the province from Thursday to Sunday due to the fear of an outbreak of conjunctivitis.

The government has added another day just to be safe, considering Friday is already a gazetted holiday due to Eid-e-Milad and the majority of institutions already get two weekly days off (Saturday and Sunday).

A few pupils of the Government Girls High School, located on Ravi Road, protested to CM Naqvi about the school’s lack of amenities.

Despite the government’s directives, there were pupils in the school with pink eye or conjunctivitis. The school administration was urged to take preventative steps after the chief minister voiced his outrage.

To declare holidays from Thursday to Sunday in all private and public schools in the province, he promptly dispatched the school secretary.

Additionally, it was determined that the impacted pupils would not be permitted to attend class on Monday.

In Punjab, there have been recorded 74,220 cases; 8,851 of the patients have come forward in the recent day.
