(AP) NEW YORK — As the actors strike has gone beyond three months of work stoppage, the eighth edition of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise has been delayed by a year, heralding a new wave of release schedule juggling for Hollywood studios.

The following “Mission: Impossible” will now be released on May 23, 2025 instead of June 28, according to Paramount Pictures on Monday.

Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” sequel’s filming was put on hold in July so that Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast could travel the world promoting “Dead Reckoning.” (The sequel was originally referred to as “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two,” but is now just referred to as “Mission: Impossible”).
