KARACHI — After being found guilty in the Orangi Town robbery case in Karachi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umair Tariq Bajari was detained by the West police.
The DSP was detained by Karachi police for his ‘direct participation’ in the Orangi Town robbery. Police claimed raids were being conducted to apprehend his other accomplices.
Following the investigation, DSP Bajari was relieved of his duties by the Karachi Police Department. Imran Qureshi, SSP South, has been suspended for incompetence.
Both cops have been told to report to the Central Police Office (CPO).
The action was taken in response to the report of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West’s investigation. The officer forwarded the investigation report to IG Riffat Mukhtar, who suggested filing a complaint and taking departmental action against the officers.
The officers were engaged in the theft of Rs20 million, 70 to 80-tola jewelry, and other valuables from an Orangi Town mansion.
