BEIJING (Reuters) — BeyonCa, a premium EV maker funded by Renault and Dongfeng Motor, announced on Friday that it intends to establish a final assembly factory and worldwide headquarters in Hong Kong, launching the territory’s first vehicle brand.
Following the one-two punch of the 2019 demonstrations and pandemic to Hong Kong’s economy, the city has moved to diversify and expand into new sectors.
“We aim to achieve a breakthrough in Hong Kong’s auto manufacturing industry, becoming the first international premier electric vehicle brand made in Hong Kong,” Weiming Soh, founder and chairman of BeyonCa, stated in Hong Kong.
