MUNICH, Germany. (Reuters) Slovenia will leave Euro 2024 without winning a single match, but they are convinced that a sequence of determined performances by a nucleus of young players will lead to repeated returns to big tournaments.

Nerves took over in the opening encounter against Denmark, who were in perfect control until Slovenia equalised late on.

Despite losing a last-16 penalty shootout to Portugal on Monday, Slovenia demonstrated that they belonged in the competition once the players got their footing.
