Jerusalem/Aza/Cairo (Reuters) – Palestinian health officials reported that at least thirty Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza that was housing displaced persons on Saturday. Israel claimed that the attack was directed at militants who were exploiting the compound.
The attack in the central town of Deir Al-Balah claimed the lives of eight women and fifteen children, according to the government media office managed by Hamas. According to the Gaza Health Ministry and the media office, over 100 individuals were injured.
The Israeli military claimed to have taken action to lessen the risk to civilians and to have targeted militants operating there.
