(Reuters) – Some flights at Beirut International Airport have been cancelled or delayed, with Lebanon’s Middle East Airlines (MEA) citing insurance risks as tensions between Israel and the militant political group Hezbollah rise.
On Saturday, a missile strike in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights killed 12 teenagers and children, raising concerns that Israel and the Iran-backed organization could go to war.
On Sunday, Israel’s security cabinet approved the government’s response to the strike. Hezbollah disputed responsibility for the strike, which was the bloodiest in Israel or Israeli-annexed territory since Hamas’ Oct. 7 assault launched the Gaza war, which has now stretched across multiple fronts.
