(Reuters) – Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, and US progressive organizations urged the Department of Justice to look into Nvidia due to worries about competition, pointing to the company’s monopoly on the processors that are powering the AI revolution.
In a letter sent this week, Demand Progress and nine other organizations urged Department of Justice antitrust chief Jonathan Kanter to look into Nvidia’s business practices. The company’s market worth reached $3 trillion this summer due to demand for chips that can handle the intricate models underlying generative artificial intelligence.
The groups, among other things, support government monitoring of computer corporations and oppose monopolies. They specifically targeted Nvidia’s practice of bundling software and hardware, which French antitrust officials have noted and are getting ready to prosecute.
