Dilip Kumar, known as the tragic King of Bollywood, died on Wednesday at the age of 98, according to Dr Jalil Parkar, the pulmonologist treating the actor at Mumbai’s PD Hinduja hospital.

After complaining of breathlessness, the renowned actor was taken to Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital, marking the second time he had been admitted in the same month.

Dilip Kumar had spent the last several years in and out of hospitals due to a variety of health issues ranging from renal disease to pneumonia.

Saira Banu, his 75-year-old wife, survives the talented actor, who would have turned 99 in December.
Dilip Kumar, whose actual name is Yusuf Khan, is most known for her roles in Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Ram Aur Shyam, Andaz, Deedar, Daagh, Azad, and Ganga Jamuna.
